Tryouts are open to anyone registered with the Prescott Russell Basketball Club.

Tryouts typically begin the second or third week September. The full season will run through to the end of April or May (depending on age group). 

You will receive an email from the coach of your age group notifying you of location & time for the first two try-outs!

PRACTICES - Teams practice three times per week (2 week nights + 1 weekend) at various gyms throughout the region (Russell, Embrun, Hammond, Casselman).  All practices are mandatory!

TRI-MEETS are two games played against other competitive teams within the Eastern Ontario Basketball League (EOBA). There are six to eight scheduled tri-meets on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the season. The location of these away tri-meets could be anywhere within Eastern Ontario (i.e., Belleville, Kingston, Brockville, Cornwall, Ottawa, etc.).

TOURNAMENTS - Families can expect three to four tournaments per season, with at least one out-of-town tournament.  Number of tournaments and locations is decided by the coaches in consultation with parents.  The goal is to provide an average of two competing weekends per month. 

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT is mandatory and crucial to the success of any team! Parents are required to act as Managers, Scorers, Time Keepers, Fundraisers and of course Cheerleaders!

Ontario Basketball has established playing time rules for the U10 and U12 levels that require equal participation. At U13 levels and higher, the playing time is at the discretion of the coach.  It is to be expected that not everyone will get the same amount of playing time.  Playing time is often earned by commitment, dedication and skill level.  This is a normal "competitive team" mentality. 

PRBC encourages coaches to develop and play all players selected to their teams.  

Registration Fee:  $500

Upon registration, all participants pay $325.

Those not selected to a competitive team will be moved to House League at no additional cost.

Those successful and selected to a competitive team will be required to pay an additional $175 registration fee and purchase their own uniform (~$175).

The registration fee covers things such as the cost of referees, equipment & supplies, as well as the required membership to the Ontario Basketball Association and Eastern Ontario Basketball Association, Player Insurance, Administration, Promotion and more.

There may also be additional "Team" fees levied by each individual team. This is to cover such costs as exhibition games and tournament registrations, and is left at the discretion of the coach and manager. Parents should participate actively in the planning of the season with their respective coaching team to ensure their needs and expectations are met. It is also important to remember there are additional costs associated with "out-of-town" tournaments (i.e., fuel, food & hotel). Each team may decide to hold fundraising activities to help offset these additional costs.
