JR. ROCKETS (Ages 5-7)

Prescott Russell Basketball Club (PRBC) is proud to provide our JR. ROCKETS program, which is designed after the JR. NBA program. This program is a co-ed youth basketball program designed to develop FUNdamental skills, sportsmanship, and a love for the game of basketball.

Jr. Rockets is for Girls and Boys aged 5 to 7 (born in 2017. 2018 and 2019)

The Jr. Rockets program:

runs every Saturday from October to just before March Break
60 to 90 minute sessions
modifies its games to ensure age-appropriate, simple and fun
use a smaller basketball and/or lower hoops

Groups, Times & Location

A maximum of 25 participants per group per session
Sessions for the 2018 and 2019 groups will be on Saturdays at Mother Teresa Elementary in Russell.
Sessions for the 2017 will also be on Saturdays, at the La Croisée Pavillion of the École Élémentaire Catholique d'Embrun in Embrun
Days/Times/Locations are tentative until gym permit is confirmed
Every effort is made to provide bilingual (EN/FR) coaching and support

Registration Fee = $125

Registration fee includes a size-appropriate Basketball and JR. Rockets t-shirt or pinnie

HOUSE LEAGUE (Ages 8-18)

House League focuses on teaching fundamental basketball skills with an EMPHASIS ON FUN to those who are new to the sport or players who are interested in only playing recreationally. There are NO try outs - anyone and everyone can join!

Maximum of 25 players per division.

Start date: October 19, 2024 / End date: March 1, 2025

Divisions and Schedule (Times & locations TBD based on gym permits):

Junior Girls (U10 & U12)
Senior Girls (U14, U16 & U19)
U10 Co-ed (2015/2016)
U12 Co-ed (2013/2014)
U14 Co-ed (2011/2012)
U16 Co-ed (2009/2010)
U19 Co-ed (2006/2007/2008)

Runs once weekly, starting the week after Thanksgiving until the weekend before March Break

90 minutes per week, evenly split between skills & drills development followed by equal time of game play.

ALL players are guaranteed equal playing time during games.

Age groups and divisions can change from year to year based on registrations.

WHAT TO WEAR: A reversible playing jersey or t-shirt is provided to each individual. This Jersey MUST be worn to your games each week and returned at the end of the season. Proper care is expected. Each player is also provided with a ball. Each player should come with their ball, jersey, t-shirt & shorts, water bottle and appropriate in-door running shoes!

REGISTRATION FEE: $250 (includes a t-shirt or pinnie, and a ball)

PARENTS OBLIGATIONS: The PRBC is a volunteer based organization and every parent is expected to help out. Your commitment can be as little or as much as you can give. Volunteers is the ONLY way the various PRBC programs can run. The commitment required includes things such as scoring, time clock and team assistance (coaching), scheduling volunteers, helping organize special events, and much, much more.

SPRING LEAGUE (Ages 8-18)

Boys and Girls Divisions - Grades 3 - 12

Extra playing time for those wanting to continue to be active before their summer sports begin! Another opportunity to learn and prepare for the "jump" to House League next season! Teams will be made as equal and age appropriate as possible.

For kids with years of birth 2006-2016
All Games will be 55 min
Equal participation for full Game
25 players per group MAX
Minimal instructions are provided to players and the sessions consist mostly of adult supervised fun games with volunteer refs. May be less suitable for beginners not familiar with the basic rules of basketball.
Day and times:
- U10 co-ed (2014 to 2016): Sundays @ 10am
- Junior Girls (2012 to 2016): Sundays @ 11am
- Senior Girls (2006 to 2011): Sundays @ 12pm
- U12 Boys: (2012-13): Sundays @ 1pm
- U14 Boys: (2010-11): Sundays @ 2pm
- Senior Boys (2006 to 2009): Sundays @ 3pm

Expected start Date - 14 Apr 2023 / End Date - 9 June 2024 (There will be no games on Sunday, 19th May for the Victoria Day long weekend)
